Your child’s first 30 days in ABA

Why the first month is about settling in

Starting therapy is a big change for everyone. The first 30 days are designed to be a gentle on-ramp, focusing on comfort and trust rather than immediate intense work.

Week 1: Getting to know each other

The first week is all about pairing. Our therapists focus on becoming a fun, positive presence in your child's life. There are very few demands; instead, we play, observe, and learn what makes your child smile.

Weeks 2–3: Routines and early skills

As your child gets comfortable, we gently introduce small routines. This might mean sitting down for a snack together or transitioning from one toy to another. We start working on simple, foundational skills that build confidence.

Week 4: Checking in on progress

By the end of the first month, we review how things are going. We look at what's working, what's challenging, and tweak the plan. It's a collaborative check-in to ensure we're on the right track.

How parents are included in the first 30 days

You are a key part of this process. We'll communicate daily about how sessions went, and we encourage you to ask questions. We want you to feel as comfortable with the team as your child does.

What “progress” usually looks like early on

Early progress is often subtle but significant. It might be your child smiling when the therapist arrives, tolerating a transition without tears, or trying a new way to communicate. These "small wins" lay the foundation for everything else.
