First Day of ABA: What to Expect
The first day of therapy is all about building trust. It’s not about testing or drilling—it’s about play.
Meeting the Team
Your child's therapist (RBT) and supervisor ( BCBA) will likely both be there. They’ll introduce themselves to you and your child warmly, without any pressure.
Pairing Through Play
We spend the first few sessions "pairing." This means the therapist associates themselves with fun things your child loves. They might join in with blocks, blow bubbles, or just sit nearby if your child needs space.
No Demands Yet
You won't see us placing many demands on the first day. The goal is for your child to see the therapist as a source of good things, not someone who just makes them work.
Parent Involvement
We’ll ask you questions about what your child likes, their routine, and any immediate concerns. You’re the expert on your child, and we’re here to learn from you.
