Communication & Language

Communication is the key to connection. We help children find their voice, reducing frustration and opening up new worlds of interaction.

Who this is for

Children who are late talkers, have limited vocabulary, rely on echolalia (repeating words), or become frustrated when they can't make their needs known.

Common challenges

  • Pulling parents to items instead of asking.
  • Tantrums due to being misunderstood.
  • Difficulty engaging in back-and-forth conversation.
  • Repeating questions instead of answering them.

How we help

We use Functional Communication Training (FCT) to teach children that words (or signs, or pictures) have power. We create motivation-based opportunities for them to request things they love, building language naturally through play.

What progress can look like

Progress might look like a child pointing to a juice box and saying "juice" instead of crying. It might be using a tablet to say "I want break." Or it could be telling you about their day at school for the first time.
